FAQ

Answers to our frequently asked questions on face-painting, rates, conditions, and more. Please review this section for commonly answered face painter questions.

  • Why choose Face Painting LA?

    Professionalism & Talent

Our artists are true artists; trained professionally in both art and the application of face and body painting. Our artists are hand-selected for their professionalism and workability. With all that, they also LOVE what they do, have pride in the work, and are dedicated to the event they participate in.

  • How many faces can you paint in an hour?

    10-18 faces / hr

A single artist can comfortably paint an average of 10-18 faces an hour depending upon the complexity of the designs chosen. For larger events, we can increase the number of faces painted per hour by providing simpler designs or additional artists.

  • What kind of paint do you use?

    FDA Approved Cosmetics

Face Painting LA uses only professional, cosmetic grade products with FDA approved ingredients. Natural face paint and water resistant makeup are also available.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit?

    Yes

Yes. A 50% deposit (Retainer) will be needed along with a completed contract. This secures your event and goes toward the total cost of the contract.

  • How do I remove face paint?

    Soap and Water

Please do not use baby wipes. The rubbing alone can cause irritation of the skin. The best way to wash off water based face paint is as follows: Take liquid soap or lathered soap straight to the skin and rub the make up around the face. Use a wet soft rag or face sponge to wipe off the soapy makeup until the face is clean.

  • What do I need to provide?

    Client Responsibility

A table (3x3 min), 2 chairs, weather appropriate protection, an area away from any speakers, good lighting and any parking costs. If are unable to provide any of these, we can rent them directly. Let us know in advance so we can add the rental fee to the quote.

  • Who can be painted?

    Face Painting for Anyone

Anyone! Face paint is not recommended for children under 2 years old without parental approval. However we will kindly offer a small design on the hand or arm to younger children and inexperienced or nervous children.

  • What areas of LA do you cover?

    All of LA County

We cover all of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
Local areas include: Agoura Hills, Arleta, Burbank, Beverly Hills, Canoga Park, Chatsworth, Encino, Glendale, Granada Hills, Hollywood, Malibu, North Hollywood, Panorama City, Pasadena, Reseda, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Sunland, Sylmar, Tarzana, Toluca Lake, Universal City, Van Nuys, West Hollywood, West Valley, Westlake Village, Westwood, Woodland Hills.

  • Are your artists insured?

    Yes

Our artists hold individual public liability insurance policies, and we are happy to provide a photocopy upon request.

  • What if my child objects?

    Alternative Art

No person will be painted without truly being a willing participant. A quick design on the hand or arm may be more enjoyable for anxious young children.

  • What if I have an illness or rash?

    Limitations

In the opinion of the artists, if someone appears to be suffering from a infectious conditions or irritated skin, they will not be painted. However, another area such as the arm or hand may be a suitable alternative for a safe and enjoyable experience.
We reserve the right to refuse to paint anyone who is abusive, violent or intoxicated.
